Max primarily researches and writes about the history of socialism in the German Democratic Republic (DDR) and its impact on the world, including in the areas of agriculture, health care, and democracy, as well as the anti-imperialist strategy of the socialist camp. As part of his research, Max conducts interviews with former citizens of the DDR and other key figures who had first-hand experience with the country in order to compile a searchable video archive for future generations, documenting the contradictions and struggles of building a socialist society. He also helps circulate Tricontinental’s publications in Germany by drawing a close connection between the content, rooted in perspectives and analyses from the Global South, and progressive forces and movements in Germany.
