Fidel Castro: a revolution can only be child of culture and ideas
In 2026 we celebrate the centenary of Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), one of the most important revolutionary leaders Latin America has had in its history. The International Union of Left Publishers together with the Fidel Castro Center organized this publication with excerpts from various speeches by Fidel throughout his life to celebrate the centenary of his birth.
The various publishers joining this publication work to keep alive this legacy, fundamental to the struggles of the peoples of the Global South in their quest for emancipation and the construction of socialism. We thank the Fidel Castro Center, in the person of its director René González Barrios, who selected and organized the speeches presented in this book.
In a context in which the U.S. imperialist offensive seeks to strangle Cuba’s economy, its people, and its revolution, disseminating Fidel’s ideas and the policies implemented by the revolution, through this publication, is a form of solidarity. In doing so, we seek to strengthen internationalist bonds in the construction of a society free of class domination.
